Before getting your first, or next tattoo, having the basics of the process is paramount for a smooth session from start to finish with your artist. It all revolves around knowing what you want. Having references, for starters, is a great way to get on the same page. Know what size and placement you want is just has helpful. When uncertain, printing out your sample design or mock up for measure and placement on yourself, is a useful way to having a physical look, before coming in.
Knowing how long your tattoo session may be is also a good idea so you may prep your day accordingly. And don't forget to Eat befoe hand.
I WANT A TATTOO BUT NOT SURE WHAT TO GET?
Starting with your reason/ing for getting a tattoo is always a good place to begin. See what imagery matches your motivation best, in searching online, for some direction. It helps to simplify your idea/s into single words and or adjectives and use it as key-words searches online. Don't forget to select "images" in your keyword search. This proces should help guide you to something more visibly definitive.
HOW MUCH IS A TATTOO?
Much like attending a restaurant, asking the server 'how much is a meal?', without details to the menu, is really no different than asking a tattoo artist, 'how much is a tattoo', without specifices to what's wanted. And like a steakhouse's options: Burgers, Porterhouse, Short Rib, etc. They All differ in cost And time it takes to make.them. Which is pretty similar to the way it works when inquiring from any tattoo artist, the cost of a tattoo.
Will 'this' color/s work on my skin?
This is best answered with by your (experienced) artist and your desired design.
For a rule of thumb, it's best to refer to the basics of the way color works in nature. Darkness will always dominate. Whether it's melanin, or dark ink- for those curious about cover ups. Therefore, the lighter the color ink, typically, the harder it is for it to show, and last, on heavily melaninated skin tones
WHAT IS "BLACK AND GREY?"
'Black and Grey', although commonly referred to as "black and white" (pix, images, etc.). for the 'less initiated', it is a term in the industry to classify any work of body art that is executed by nothing but shades of black ink, or 'grey'.
WHAT SHALL I WEAR?
Anything Comfortable and adjustable. The best advice is to wear something flexible or removable for the body part of choice.
